Our heroes gained a level after their first mission. See their updated character sheet on their own page: Mulush & Leia.
A New Day
After finishing their meal at Stonehill Inn, Mulush and Leia returned to the townmaster's hall to collect their reward for warning the dwarves about the dragon. Harbin was pleased to hand over their 50 gold pieces and informed them that other missions remained available on the job board.
More confident after their successful first quest, our heroes decided to continue working together. They chose the Umbrage Hill Quest from the board to retrieve Adabra Gwynn, a midwife and apothecary devoted to Chauntea, the goddess of agriculture. With dragon sightings becoming more common, Harbin wanted her brought back to Phandalin, where she would be safer than living alone in such a remote location.
Mulush and Leia agreed and set out toward their new objective.
The Windmill Under Attack
Built on the slope of Umbrage Hill is an old stone windmill surrounded by an iron fence. A large winged monster with a spiky tail is trying to knock down the windmill's front door. A woman appears in a second-floor window, waves at you, and yells, "A little help?!"
Mulush: "Look, Leia, a manticore."
Leia: "It's huge."
Mulush: "So what's the plan? How are we going to bring back Adabra with this over there? A manticore is no easy opponent."
Leia: "Hmm… I don't think we should take it head-on. Let's move closer and see what's happening—figure out what it wants."
Mulush: "Lead the way!"
Moving closer to the windmill, Leia was able to see that the manticore appeared to be injured. Even wounded, it remained a deadly opponent—attacking it head-on without backup would be extremely dangerous. However, seeing its injury gave them a small hope that they might be able to reason with the creature instead of fighting it.
Leia decided to try talking to the beast. They had started this mission thinking they would simply escort an Adabra back to Phandalin. But in the current situation, they had to manage something way more serious.
An Unexpected Negotiation
Leia: "Hey! What's happening here? Why are you attacking this woman?"
The beast turned toward our heroes with a snarl.
Manticore: "What do you want? I'm busy. I'm hungry. If it's not her, it's going to be you."
Leia: "Not with that injury. You're not in a good position to fight—there are two of us."
Leia tried to make the beast reconsider its actions.
Manticore: "So what, am I supposed to leave with my belly empty? Since that damn dragon came to the mountain, I have to search for food elsewhere. This is what I found, and I want to eat it."
Leia: "If food is all you need, we can help you. There's a forest nearby. We could find a deer, elk, or boar that would satisfy your appetite."
Mulush: "If you swear never to return to this area, we'll feed you today."
Manticore: "I usually hunt for my food, but having servants could be... nice. It's harder for me to run with this wing injury."
Mulush: "Alright, we have a deal. Adabra, we'll help the manticore hunt, then we need to talk to you."
Adabra: "Thank you!"
The Hunt

An unexpected trio made their way toward the nearest forest to hunt. Leia led the way, using her excellent survival skills and stealth abilities to track animal signs. Even injured, the manticore proved helpful in locating prey.
Together, they successfully hunted an enormous boar that satisfied the manticore's hunger.
Manticore: "Thank you for the food. My hunger is satisfied. I will not bother that woman again."
Pleased with their unconventional solution—diplomacy and cooperation instead of violence—our heroes headed back to Umbrage Hill to convince Adabra to return with them to Phandalin.
A Stubborn Apothecary
Mulush: "Alright, Adabra, come down. The manticore is gone. Now we need to head back to Phandalin."
Adabra: "Absolutely not. I'm not leaving my mill."
Leia: "Are you aware of the danger? A manticore was at your doorstep just hours ago. The region has become more dangerous since the dragon claimed the mountain as its lair."
Adabra: "I will not leave. You cannot persuade me otherwise."
Our heroes realized that some people are too stubborn to help…
Leia: "Listen, we need proof that we came here and asked you to return, and that you refused. Could you write us a signed note?"
Adabra: "I can do that. Come inside."
Magic in a Bottle

Once inside the mill, Mulush asked Adabra about her work. She explained that she was an apothecary who made healing potions. If they needed any, she would gladly sell from her inventory. In fact, she offered one potion free of charge for their help with the manticore.
With their recent reward from the dwarven mission, plus the gold and jewels they already carried, our heroes had plenty of money to spend. Healing potions were uncommon in the area and would prove invaluable for their remaining adventures. They decided to purchase her entire stock.
Five potions cost a total of 250 gold pieces. Adabra gladly accepted the jewels from their dwarven excavation instead of gold coins, and they were able to pay using their recent rewards. They split the potions between them—Mulush took three as Leia—and felt much more secure with these magic items in their possession.
Mission Complete
Adabra: "Here's your note. Thank you for your help with the manticore and for your purchase. Have a safe journey, both of you."
Mulush: "Thank you. Good luck staying safe out here."
Leia: "Take care of yourself."
With the signed note as proof that they had reached Umbrage Hill and attempted to convince Adabra to return, our heroes headed back to Phandalin to deliver the news to Harbin and collect their reward for completing another mission.
This new success added a new level to our heroes; now, both at level 3, they were able to specialize in their craft.
